This page explains all fees associated with using the Seatium platform — operated by Aethyra LLC. We believe in transparent pricing. There are no hidden fees: what you see here is exactly what organizers and buyers pay. All fees are denominated in U.S. dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated.
01
Introduction
Seatium charges fees to event organizers to sustain and improve the platform. Ticket buyers do not pay a separate "convenience fee" on top of the ticket price — the platform fee is collected from the organizer's payout, not added to the buyer's checkout total. Organizers set ticket prices and are responsible for factoring fees into their pricing strategy.
Fees consist of two components: a Seatium platform service fee and a Stripe payment processing fee. Both are deducted from the organizer's gross ticket revenue before payout. Free events are exempt from both fees.
02
Platform Service Fee
Seatium charges a platform service fee of 8% of the ticket face value for each paid ticket sold through the platform. This fee covers access to the Seatium ticketing infrastructure, including:
- ▸Event creation and management tools — create unlimited events, manage ticket tiers, set capacities, and track sales in real time.
- ▸QR-coded digital tickets — each purchase generates a unique, scannable QR ticket delivered to the buyer by email.
- ▸3D venue seat maps — interactive, spatially accurate venue models for events where reserved seating applies.
- ▸Event scanner app — mobile check-in scanning for door staff, with real-time attendee validation.
- ▸Attendee management dashboard — full attendee list, order history, and export tools.
- ▸Email campaign tools — send promotional emails to imported contacts and past attendees.
- ▸Analytics and reporting — revenue summaries, ticket sales trends, and attendee insights.
- ▸Secure checkout — fraud detection, checkout fingerprinting, and guest checkout support.
- ▸Transactional emails — automated order confirmations, reminders, and updates via Mailgun.

The platform fee is calculated on the face value of each ticket as set by the organizer. It is not calculated on top of any other fees — it applies only to the ticket price itself.
03
Payment Processing Fees
All payments on Seatium are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Stripe charges its own payment processing fees, which are passed through to organizers at cost. Seatium does not mark up Stripe's fees.
Domestic Card Transactions (U.S.)
For standard U.S. card transactions, Stripe charges:
This fee applies to all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) when the buyer's card is issued in the United States.
Additional Processing Scenarios
- ▸Manually entered card numbers: An additional 0.5% surcharge may apply when a card number is keyed in rather than swiped or tapped (e.g., via a mobile order form).
- ▸International cards: An additional 1.5% applies to cards issued outside the United States. See Section 10 for details.
- ▸Currency conversion: If a transaction requires currency conversion, Stripe charges an additional 1% conversion fee on top of the processing rate.
Stripe's fee schedule is subject to change. For the most current rates, visit stripe.com/pricing. Seatium will notify organizers of any material changes to pass-through processing fees.
04
Ticket Price Threshold
The Seatium platform fee applies only to tickets priced above $10.00 USD. Tickets priced at or below this threshold are exempt from the platform service fee, though Stripe payment processing fees still apply for paid transactions.
| Ticket Price | Platform Fee | Stripe Fee |
|---|---|---|
| $0.00 (free) | None | None |
| $0.01 – $10.00 | None | 2.9% + $0.30 |
| $10.01 and above | 8% of ticket price | 2.9% + $0.30 |
The $10.00 threshold is designed to support low-cost community events and local organizers who price tickets accessibly.
05
Fee Calculation & Examples
The total fees deducted from an organizer's payout per ticket are calculated as follows:
Example A — $25.00 Ticket
Example B — $75.00 Ticket
Example C — $8.00 Ticket (below threshold)
Example D — $0.00 Free Ticket
All amounts shown are approximate. Actual payout amounts may vary slightly due to currency rounding and Stripe's fee calculation methodology, which applies rounding rules to individual transactions. Organizers can view the exact fee breakdown for each order in their Seatium dashboard.
06
Organizer Payouts
Seatium uses Stripe Connect to manage organizer payouts. To receive payouts, organizers must complete Stripe's standard identity verification and bank account onboarding process. Stripe is solely responsible for verifying organizer identity and banking information; Seatium does not store banking details.
Payout Timing
Payout timing is governed by Stripe's standard settlement schedule:
- ▸Standard payout schedule: Funds are typically available within 2–7 business days of the transaction date for verified accounts with standard Stripe Connect accounts.
- ▸New accounts: Stripe may apply a longer initial holding period (up to 7–14 days) for new organizer accounts while your account is being verified and risk-assessed.
- ▸Payout frequency: Payouts are issued on Stripe's standard rolling basis — typically daily for eligible accounts once the minimum payout threshold is met. Stripe's minimum payout amount and schedule depend on your bank and location.
Connect Fee
Seatium uses Stripe Connect's standard pricing for connected accounts. There are no additional Seatium-imposed fees for Stripe Connect onboarding or payout processing. Stripe may charge its own fees for Connect accounts depending on account type; these are passed through at cost.
Organizer Requirements
To receive payouts, organizers must:
- ▸Complete Stripe's identity verification (government-issued ID + business information where applicable).
- ▸Provide a valid U.S. bank account for ACH deposit or international bank account where supported by Stripe.
- ▸Maintain a good-standing account with Seatium and comply with the Seatium Terms of Service.
If Stripe places a hold on your account or suspends payouts for compliance reasons, Seatium will assist with communication but is not responsible for Stripe's decisions regarding fund holds. Organizers should review Stripe's Connected Account Agreement before onboarding.
07
Free Events
Seatium is fully free for events where all ticket types are priced at $0.00. Free event organizers get access to the same core platform features as paid events — including event creation, QR ticket generation, attendee management, and the scanner app — at no cost.
Since no payment is collected for free tickets, Stripe does not process a transaction, and no Stripe fees apply. There is no platform service fee for $0.00 tickets. This makes Seatium an accessible option for community events, launches, and non-profit functions.

Refunds & Cancellations
Seatium provides organizers with tools to issue full or partial refunds to ticket buyers. Refund policies are ultimately set by the event organizer; Seatium is a technology platform and is not a party to the transaction between the organizer and the buyer.
Refund Fee Handling
When a refund is issued:
- ▸Stripe processing fee: As of April 2024, Stripe does not refund its processing fees (2.9% + $0.30) when a charge is refunded. This cost is borne by the organizer.
- ▸Seatium platform fee: Seatium refunds its platform service fee (8%) back to the organizer's Stripe balance when a full refund is issued. Partial refunds receive a pro-rated platform fee credit.
- ▸Buyer experience: Buyers receive the full ticket price back to their original payment method. The organizer absorbs the Stripe non-refundable processing fee.
Event Cancellation
If an organizer cancels an event, Seatium strongly recommends issuing full refunds to all ticket buyers as promptly as possible. Organizers who fail to honor refunds for cancelled events may have their accounts suspended. In the event of an organizer dispute or account failure, Seatium will work with Stripe to return funds to buyers to the extent possible, but cannot guarantee recovery in all circumstances.
Buyer-Initiated Refund Requests
Buyers seeking refunds must contact the event organizer directly. Seatium support can facilitate communication but does not have authority to unilaterally issue refunds on behalf of organizers. If an organizer is unresponsive or has violated Seatium's policies, buyers may contact support@seatium.co for escalation.
09
Checkout Hold & Reservations
When a buyer begins the checkout process, Seatium places a 30-minute hold on the selected tickets. This temporarily reduces the available ticket count to prevent overselling while the buyer completes payment.
- ▸Hold duration: 30 minutes from the time checkout is initiated.
- ▸Automatic release: If payment is not completed within 30 minutes, the hold is automatically released and the tickets become available again for purchase by other buyers.
- ▸No charge for holds: Initiating checkout and having a hold placed does not incur any fee. Buyers are only charged upon completing a successful payment.
- ▸Hold limit: Each buyer session may hold a maximum quantity governed by the ticket tier's per-order limit as set by the organizer.
The 30-minute checkout window is designed to give buyers sufficient time to complete payment while minimizing inventory lock-up for high-demand events.
10
International Transactions
Seatium is primarily designed for U.S.-based events and organizers. International ticket buyers may purchase tickets to U.S. events using internationally issued cards, subject to the following additional fees applied by Stripe:
- ▸International card surcharge: +1.5% on the transaction total for cards issued outside the United States.
- ▸Currency conversion: If the buyer's currency differs from USD, Stripe charges an additional 1% conversion fee. All Seatium transactions are settled in USD.
- ▸Combined international rate: Up to 2.9% + $0.30 + 1.5% (international card) + 1% (if currency conversion applies) = up to 5.4% + $0.30 per transaction.
These additional fees are pass-through charges from Stripe and are borne by the organizer. Seatium does not add margin on top of Stripe's international fees. International organizer payouts may take longer depending on Stripe's cross-border settlement timelines.
11
Fee Changes
Seatium reserves the right to update its platform service fee rate, fee threshold, or fee structure at any time. When material changes to fees are made, Seatium will:
- ▸Notify organizers via email to the address on file at least 14 days before the new rates take effect.
- ▸Update this page with the new rates and a revised effective date.
- ▸Post a notice in the organizer dashboard during the notice period.
Fee changes will not apply retroactively to tickets already sold. Events with active ticket sales at the time of a fee change will continue to be charged the rate in effect at the time each ticket was sold until the new rate effective date. Organizers who disagree with a fee change may close their account before the new rates take effect; pending payouts for existing sales will be processed at the original rate.
Stripe's processing fees are set by Stripe, Inc. and are outside of Seatium's control. Changes to Stripe's fee schedule are governed by the Stripe Services Agreement.
